Startup Sales Strategy: How to Get the First Meeting // BUSINESS 356

Anand Chopra-McGowan, Brand Alchemist, SCVNGR

Thursday, June 2nd from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Sometimes the biggest hurdle to selling your hot new product is just knowing who to sell it to, and how to find them.

This class will focus on giving you strategy, tactics, and methods that will help you get that crucial first meeting. We'll get into the details - looking at everything from creating a target list, to sourcing accurate contact information, introducing your product in a way that makes you truly stand out, and how to find the elusive balance between persistence and peskiness.

By implementing these surprisingly simple tools and guidelines, you're sure to find potential clients' doors open wider than ever.

Anand Chopra-McGowan is Senior Brand Alchemist at SCVNGR, a Google-funded game dynamics company that's innovating in everything from location-based services to local deals. Prior to that, he was Director of Development for The Ad Club, New England's trade association for the communications industry.

His sales success in the two roles is proof that the underlying methods, strategies and tactics are consistent, no matter what you're selling. The Ad Club is 106 years old and SCVNGR is 2 years old, yet Anand got new media companies like Aol, Yahoo! and Google to sponsor The Ad Club, and old-school brands like Dunkin' Donuts, Scholastic, and CBS to run programs on SCVNGR.
